The "Discover it Miles" card is essentially a 1.5% cash-back credit card, where you need to use your reward points as credits against travel purchases. What makes it interesting is that Discover doubles your rewards during the first year, raising the reward rate to 3%.
If you are willing to deal with the extra complexity, you may want to use the card as your general purpose reward card for a year and then shift to another card when the bonus rewards end. It is even possible to periodically cancel and reapply for the Discover card, so that you can earn 3% on-and-off on an ongoing basis.
Since Discover reports Business cards on your personal credit report and doesn't offer a signup bonus on the Discover It Miles Business card, there aren't any reasons to get the business card instead of, or in addition to, the business version, unless you genuinely want a separate card for your business. Collecting the Signup Bonus
- In lieu of a signup bonus, the Discover Card doubles your rewards for the entire first year you have the card. At the end of the year, you'll receive a credit equal to the normal rewards you earned. In effect, that gives you the equivalent of 3% cashback during your initial year.
