Three Opportunities to Easily Earn a Free Car Rental

Now is a great time to take advantage of car rental promotions. There are currently three different promotions where you can easily earn a free car rental, by simply signing up and making one or two other rentals.

If you need to rent a car over the few months, such as over the holidays, this is a great way to get extra value from your car rentals. If you are only planning on a single rental, and are trying to qualify for a promotion that requires two rentals, it may make sense to split the rental into two parts, so that you can still qualify.

1. National One Two Free Promotion. Every year, National offers a promotion called "One Two Free". Once you register for the promotion, you can earn large numbers of National bonus points for various activities, including 300 points for every rental (of two or more days), that occurs between 8/23/18 and 2/28/19. 600 points is enough for a free daily rental day, good until 6/13/19. 2. National American Express Promotion. National car rental is offering free executive status for American Express customers who become NEW MEMBERS of the National Emerald Club. Then you'll only need to make a SINGLE rental to qualify for six Emerald Club credits, which is good enough for a free rental day. These credits, as opposed to the One Two Free points, can even be used for expensive one-way rentals and won't expire until the end of the year that follows the year you earn them. Once the promotion is over, you'll retain your Executive status until 2/28/20. This entitles you to pick any car from the Executive aisle, whenever you make a mid-size rental; and reduces the number of credits you need for free car rentals. Executive Level Benefits.

Enrollment is available and rentals can be made until until 1/31/19. It is unclear whether you can take advantage of this at the same time that you are taking advantage of National's One Two Free Promotion. We are likely to try and will report back when we know more.

3. Avis Drive Free Promotion. Avis is offering a "Drive Free" promotion where you can earn a Reward Day for every two North American rentals you make between now and 2/28/19. Qualifying rentals must be for at least two days, and the rental must be for at least an intermediate car. The catch is that the free rental day must be used by 5/24/19.
